SSC CGL re-Exam(TIER-1) Held on 27th April 2014-Morning Session

After Long wait ,SSC has successfully conducted re-exam for Combined Graduate Level( CGL-2013) in Seven cities i.e Lucknow, Patna, Allahabad, Delhi, Jaipur, Shimla and Dehradun on 27th April,2014 in both Shifts.

Original Tier-1 CGL exam was held on 21th April, 2013 and 19th May,2013 all over India. But CAT Ordered SSC to re-exam all over India due to a report presented by investigation agency confirming the use of invalid materials at such centers .

SSC Tier-1 Exam is of 200 Marks consists of Following Sections:

Part-A: General Intelligence and reasoning

Part-B: General Awareness

Part- C: Quantitative Aptitude

Part- D: English Comprehension.

Every section consists of 50 Questions having 1 mark each and there is negative marking of .25 for each wrong answer.

Current Bank rates with their definations

1. Bank Rate:

Bank rate is the rate at which central bank of india i.e RBI allows finance to commercial banks.Any upward revision in Bank Rate by central bank is an indication that banks should also increase deposit rates as well as Base Rate .

Therefore, an increase in Bank rate means depositors will get more interest and vice versa.

Current Bank rate is: 9.00.

Remember Bank Rate is not the same thing as Deposit Rates offered by banks for fixed deposits and recurring deposits.

2.SLR(Statutory Liquidity Ratio):

Every bank is required to maintain at the close of business every day, a minimum proportion of their Net Demand and Time Liabilities as liquid assets in the form of cash, gold and un-encumbered approved securities. The ratio of liquid assets to demand and time liabilities is known as Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR). RBI is empowered to increase this ratio up to 40%.

I.e SLR means commercial banks have to deposits minimum amount of deposits with RBI in form of cask or gold etc.An increase in SLR also restrict the bank’s leverage position to pump more money into the economy.

Current SLR is: 23.0

3.Repo Rate:

Its a rate at which RBI lends money to commercial Banks against securities. In increase in Repo Rate means borrowing from RBI become more expensive.

Current Repo Rate is: 8.0

4. Reverse Repo Rate:

Its a rate at which RBI borrows money from commercial banks. This condition occurs when deposits with bank stuck and not in position to invest anywhere

An increase in the reverse repo rate means that the RBI is ready to borrow money from the banks at a higher rate of interest.

Current Reverse Repo Rate is: 7.0

5. CRR(Cash Reserve Ratio):

Banks in India are required to hold a certain proportion of their deposits in the form of cash. Banks do not hold deposits with itself but deposits money with RBI. This money will be helpful in case of Bankrupt.

Current CRR is: 4.0

6. MSF(Marginal Standing Facility):

MSF is the rate at which commercial banks could borrow funds overnight from RBI against Government securities .

Banks can borrow money through MSF in case of emergency.

Current CRR is: 9.0

TIER-I OF THE EXAMINATION :

A. General Intelligence & Reasoning :

It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. This component may include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc.

B. General Awareness :

Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, scientific Research etc. These Questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

C. Numerical Aptitude :

The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. The scope of the test will be the computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions and relationships between numbers. It will test sense of order among numbers, ability to translate from one name to another, sense or order of magnitude, estimation or prediction of the outcome of computation, selection of an appropriate operation for the solution of real life problems and knowledge of alternative computation procedures to find answers. The questions would also be based on arithmetical concepts and relationship between numbers and not on complicated arithmetical computation (The standard of the questions will be of 10+2 level).

D. English Comprehension :

Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, his basic comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested.

SSC CGL re-Exam admit cards for North Region

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced that there will be a re-examination for the Combined Graduate Level exam 2013 for all the candidates having appeared for the examination at any one of the following exam centers: Lucknow, Patna, Allahabad, Delhi, Jaipur, Shimla and Dehradun. The CGL 2013 re-examination is applicable for candidates having appeared for Tier-I or Tier-II CGL 2013 exam at any of the seven listed centers.
The Combined Graduate Level Tier-I examination 2013 was conducted by Staff Selection Commission on April 21, 2013 and on May 19, 2013 in centers across the country. As per reports, more than 12 lakh candidates appeared for the examination. The Combined Graduate Level Tier-II examination 2013 was held by SSC on September 28, 2013 and September 29, 2013 for eligible candidates.
The cut-offs used for candidates qualified at the Combined Graduate Level Tier-I exam for all posts was:
SC: 75.25 marks
ST: 70.25 marks
OBC: 81.50 marks
Ex-Servicemen: 60.75 marks
Orthopedically Handicapped: 70.25 marks
Hearing Handicapped: 30 marks
Visually Handicapped: 48 marks
Un-reserved: 96 marks
